Eduardo's one year update is long overdue (like, almost 2 months!) and he is now 13 months old but I really wanted to do a proper blog post about everything that's been going on with him! Plus how grown up does he look in these pictures?! It almost makes me want to cry!
Height/Weight: Okay so I'm not going to lie and say that I regularly weigh/measure my kids because I don't! I just don't think it's that important, so long as they look healthy and aren't sick I'm not worried! And the doctors never tend to do it either so I never have anything to update! But we did recently weigh both of them when we were updating their carseats and that's when I found out that Eduardo weighs about 10kgs!
Routine: Eduardo wakes up between 7 and half past, eats breakfast around 8 o'clock and has another small snack at around 10am. He & Emilia eat lunch around 12:30 and are ready for a nap between 1 and 2pm. They both currently nap for 2 hours, eat a snack after they wake up in the afternoon and then we have dinner at 6pm. Their bathtime is at 7:30 and they're usually in bed by 8pm! Their routines synced up right after Eduardo dropped his morning nap which was right before his first birthday.
Sleeping: We are really lucky that Eduardo sleeps through the night and has been doing so since he was about 10 months! Thankfully Emilia was (and still is) exactly the same.
Eating: At around 12 months I weaned Eduardo off the boob :( It was and still is one of the most emotional experiences in my life...I know that sounds dramatic but I can't help my feelings! I was crushed when he finished breastfeeding...it broke me and it still continues to upset me when I think about it. I hate when other women come on my blog and leave comments telling me what I should or shouldn't do when it comes to breastfeeding/nursing or any aspect of parenting to be honest! So please don't tell me "oh you should have breastfed till he was two" because I'm not interested...feeding and nursing your baby is a very personal experience which is different for everyone and I don't believe that anybody should judge another woman for how they choose to do it. I breastfed both my babies for the first 12 months of their lives and I'm damn proud of myself for doing it! In my mind I always knew 12 months was my cut-off point and that was right for me...Eduardo was showing signs that he was ready and I knew in my head that he was but my heart was just sad that that part of my life is over because I'm pretty sure I only want two babies. I still cry sometimes when I think about it - I know it's not easy for some people to understand but breastfeeding your baby is truly one of the most amazing bonding experiences!
Sizes: Eduardo wears size 5 nappies and is in 12-18 month clothing for the most part. It depends on the brand, some of his trousers/jeans are size 9-12 as his legs are pretty short :) Ha ha little cutie!
Milestones: The biggest milestone is that he is walking now! He started at 13 months, and has been getting braver everyday by walking for longer periods of time. He is talking and using his words more & more now...so he says things like "car", "ball", "mama", "dada". He says "all gone!" "bye-bye" and "hiya!" when he's on the phone! He also calls all the dogs "Bianca" because he hears me calling her name the most! Eduardo got some new teeth recently - so now he has four on top and three on bottom with another one coming up soon!
Check out our One Year Update video below! I filmed it in my new office/filming room :) Let me know what you guys think!
These photos are so sweet! Such a lovely post x
ReplyDeleteEduardo is such a cutie!
ReplyDeleteI was one of those women who mentioned breastfeeding until two but I truly hope my comment didn't upset you or come across as judgey! The only reason I commented was because I knew you were upset about it and I wondered if perhaps you felt pressure to wean at one because it's quite a common weaning point or because of social pressure but if it's a personal choice that you've thought through then obviously that is fine! Well more than fine because breastfeeding until one is amazing and you should certainly be proud of what you have done for your children!
Aww he's getting so big!
ReplyDeleteI love these updates posts, they're so fun and interesting!
and Anna you're so good at writing. xo
Good for you! 12 months is amazing! You did a great job mama! I have a little boy 10 months and a 28 month old girl. I nursed them both until they were 7 months. Working full time in the US you only get 12 weeks off and pumping did not agree with my supply. I was always a little jealous you never had to use a pump ;) I love following your journey as you are always a few months ahead of us and I know what I will be getting myself into :)
ReplyDeleteHe is so, so cute! Such beautiful photos Anna. xx

Your office truly looks amazing ^^ I love it! Eduardo looks like a very happy little boy, I can't believe he's almost 14 months already.. It feels like just a week ago he turned 12 months! I'm only 21 so I can't imagine what breast feeding feels like but I'm sure it was amazing for you and Emilia and Eduardo. I don't really get why people would tell you to do differently.. It's your life and not theirs! Anyway, love to read these blog posts. Lots of love from Belgium!
ReplyDeleteThat was such a cute video of you and Eduardo. I love the pics of him too. He's growing so fast! My youngest is 17 now, I miss those baby days so much. I understand how you feel about the breastfeeding. It's so wonderful to have the bond with your baby and we all do it our own way. Cherish little Eduardo as much as you can, because time goes by way too fast. Sending love to you and your family.<3
ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely post Anna, Wardo is such a gorgeous and handsome little boy. X
ReplyDeleteAll of your work (blogs and vlogs) have really inspired me in continuing my blog. I'm still learning as I go and I hope you don't mind but I take some tips off of you😉 I love hearing about your life and how your lovely children are growing up - makes me wonder what sort of future I'll have, sorry I've gone all cringe.

Aw Anna, he's so beautiful. I know exactly how you feel about stopping breastfeeding - such an emotional experience x
ReplyDeleteBless you and your kids. They are the cutest :) especially I absolutely adore Emilia. I have a lil girl and I completely understand your point about not wanting advices from other people about how you raise your baby as you are with them most of the time and you know the best. Stay happy and positive :)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! I weaned my 4 girls from breast feeding at 12 months, as well as them being ready for it, it gave me back my independence, some might say that's selfish, but to be honest, I mainly breastfed for them to have the best nutrients and minerals from me and by that age they have sufficient from their food.
ReplyDeleteI love how he said Bubble today! And his walking is incredible! it makes me wish I was able to rewind the clock and keep a video diary of my children growing up.. it happens in such a flash!
hugs from one fab mummy to another xx
I totally get the breastfeeding! I havee 2 kids exclusively breastfed both, plan on a third but if the third doesnt happen for financial reasons I will be crushed that I didnt properly say goodbye to breastfeeding because I anticipated doing it again. Crazy I know but thats the truth!
ReplyDeleteEduardo is so cheeky and so cute! I was sure that I didn't want to breastfeed when I have my first baby but knowing how special you find it is starting to change my mind haha! x

Anna you are honestly so sweet and I definitely agree with you about the breastfeeding! I'm not a mum but a few of my friends are and they each say the same thing - only you can tell when or when not is the right time for you to stop. I love reading your updates and it is so amazing to watch your beautiful kids grow up! :) You are and amazing mum and those that doubt this are mental!
ReplyDeleteEverytime I read baby update posts I'm laughing so hard. It's not because - in this case - Eduardo, but because my babycousin is only 15 weeks old, but already 7 kgs and wears size 4 nappies...ok, it's because she's mostly just laying, but still funny for me:) Also I remember I started watching your channel, a few months before you announced baby #2, and oh my, time flies:)
ReplyDeleteAww he is such a cutie! Good job mama!
ReplyDeleteI loved your blog for ages and I just recently started a one by myself so if you wouldn't mind, could you check it? Thank you xx rachelbellebeauty.blogspot.com.es

I am only 16 so I'm well of the point where I'm even thinking of having children yet your blog posts are so amazing and I love how open you are. I do want to have children in the future and I hope I can be as close to my future family as you are to yours!
ReplyDeleteI wanted to take this opportunity to thank both yourself and Jonathan for your endless hard work you both make my day so much better. At times when I have had a crappy day or felt like giving up I turn your videos on and instantly start again! In October I started my own blog and YouTube channel much like style diet and at first I was apprehensive to tell my close friends and family about it. Pretty quickly my friends found out about it and I got a lot of hate at school for it but soon enough it settled down and I kept going with my channel. I'm not going to lie there have been times where I felt like giving up on my channel expecialy when I see channels that are doing a lot better than mine in the same time period! But when I started to feel like that your vlogs helped me see that subscriber count doesn't matter what matters is that I am creating content I love! It does get hard and I have the up most respect for your family and the sheer comittment you have to your channels.
So I thought I would say thank you to you as my channel (ellemaymakeup) is approaching 100 subscribers because I k ow I wouldn't have been able to keep this up without your videos and your amazing story's.
Thank you for being you and working so hard for us all. I truly do appreciate you guys every single day. I love you.
Thanks from
Ellemaymakeup
Ps tell Jonathan I have created you guys a end slate it's on my Twitter @ellemaymakeup thanks have a good day xxxx😘😘
Omg Eduardo saying bye ... sooo cute! What an amazing family, so crazy to look back at your vlogs from like 5 years ago and now how much life have changed, every time when I have a bad day I watch your vlogs and think things will get better, life can change so much so fast!
ReplyDeleteGetting so big! I love being able to watch him grow on the vlogs!
ReplyDeletedyannedavid.blogspot.com
I started watching the vlogs just after you announced you were pregnant with Eduardo so almost two years! To think he's just over 1 now amazes me and in your video to hear him shout out words warms my heart so much! I'm so excited to see how much more Eduardo progresses :) x
ReplyDeleteI can't believe how quickly he's growing up! I can't wait until him and Emilia are having little conversations - it will be so cute!

He does looks so grown up! I love the way you dress him as well. I can't believe I've been watching the vlogs for over a year now, I found your guys' channel because of Zoe when Eduardo was born and have been watching daily ever since!

He is such a cutie; I love that smile!!! I love your baby updates and have found them really helpful (routine-wise, etc.) because I don't know many new moms, so thank you. It's funny because that also means that I don't see many other babies and when you say Eduardo is 10 kilos it makes me realize how huge my baby is (10 kilos and he is 8 months tomorrow... I'm 5 feet tall???) lol. Anyway I don't want to ramble but I also wanted to say that I really appreciate your comment about breastfeeding. It is very personal to each woman and we should be trusted in our decisions pertaining to that. I managed 6 weeks and to me, that is something to be proud of ( and to cry about sometimes )! Take care xx much love from Montreal :)
ReplyDeleteWith a baby exactly one month younger than Eduardo, I'd love to hear what foods he's eating. What are his favorites/least favorites?
ReplyDelete"He calls all the dogs Bianca" HAHAHa DYINGGG
ReplyDeleteAnd yay I can't wait for your videos! Good Luck Anna xo

It's common. I felt very sad when we stopped nursing. I know I was done at 22 months, she could have kept going, but it was time for me to have my body back. I miss it so much though. I love these videos. I also started watching your channel when you were pregnant with Eduardo, so it is such a joy to see him growing so much.

ReplyDeleteHey Anna I really love these updates.... He looks so grownup and what a handsome little studmuffin is he!!!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE.... I'm one of those moms that totally understands what you mean when talking about breastfeeding....My heart literally BROKE when I had to stop breastfeeding my daughter ... then 13 months. I always said I 'll breastfeed her for the first year but by her birthday I just wasn't ready to let go.... And then I got the fantastic news that we were expecting baby number two (another beatiful girl) and the drs said that I HAD to stop not wean her off slowly I had to STOP then and there........ Its still very sad for me but I'm proud that I did do it for as long as I did... ~ My daughter is now almost 17 months and she also wears a 5 nappy and she weighs almost 12 kg... Healthy is all I care about.... Love you guys and all the blogs!!!!!! You ARE a AMAZING mum to both your kids don't let ANYBODY make you feel otherwise!!!!!

Aww he is such a cutie❤️ I can totally relate to your feelings regarding breastfeeding. Just hold on to what you wrote in this post whenever you feel discouraged by someone. You are doing such a great job!
ReplyDeleteI will be done breastfeeding my daughter (10 months old) in a few months and I am already getting emotional. She is my second child and is also going to be our last one. I just wanted to let you know that this blog post from "your modern family" has helped me alot to start processing the fact that my babies are growing up, and that we won't have this physical bond as much as before. Maybe it could help you as well. I hope so! Her is the link: http://www.yourmodernfamily.com/done-having-babies/
Aww Eduardo is so cute! Love the photos too.

Awww little Eduardo <3 WHY IS TIME MOVING SO QUICKLY :( he's all grown up now! I don't even know how you must feel, Anna! I'm not even part of your family and I feel very emotional..
ReplyDeleteHi Anna,
ReplyDeleteEduardo is so cute.
But I have a question for you. Hope you can help me. How do you get him to sleep without the boob? My baby becomes one in about 1,5 month. I want to stop nursing when he is 1, but I just can't get him to sleep without the boob. But if he can't sleep without the boob, I think that I have to gp trough qith the nursing. That's frustrating, because his father can't get him to bed and it is always me ho is doing that.
I hope you have any advice for me.
Btw you are doing a grwat job with your two happy little kids.
Ignore people telling you of when to quit nursing. Mum knows best. I was planning to breastfeed my little one till she turns 1, but since she started solids at around 8 months she just didn't seem interested in nursing any more. So we finished it earlier, even though I was so sad. Now I am expecting for my 3rd baby (boy finally) in about 4 weeks and I will definitely breastfeed, but as long as I want to, not as long as people tell me. :) My family life is on http://www.mylifemypassion.co.uk/
ReplyDeleteHi Anna,
ReplyDeleteI have been reading your blog for over a year and think you are an amazing mom! It is so sweet of you to share your lives with the whole world. You don't need to explain yourself to anyone when it comes to your parenting decisions or any other personall choices, if people don't get it, then they don't get it. You are doing a great job, you have a beautiful family!
Valentina
Eduardo is so cute! You so lucky Anna to have 2 beautiful and amazing children<3

Girl my baby is 15 months old and I just did an update. (; When I was watching your video last night, I was so impressed with Eduardo. But both of your babies are very advanced! I just loved his Buh-bye. Many blessings to you and your beautiful family. (:
ReplyDeleteThank you for writing this post, in particular the part on feeding. My daughter is a week away from turning 1, and she's my second and last child, everything at the moment feels like the end of a part of my life I'll never have again so I'm feeling very emotional! I gave up breastfeeding when she was only 9 months due to having an operation but like you, I had wanted to nurse until she was one. You have to do what's right for you and your family and no one else should have the right to say otherwise.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe he is walking now! It makes me so happy to see it when I watch the vlogs!

Hi Anna,
ReplyDeleteI have been following yours and Sacconejoly blogs for more than two years. This is my first comment ever. I am really impressed how long you have been doing this. You both are such nice people and fun parents as far as i can see from the part of your live you have been sharing. I am 31 and live in the Netherlands. I have two little boys, the oldest just turned 3 last week and the jongest was born about three weeks after Eduardo. I have been following the development of Eduardo because of the small age difference. I am really impressed by breastfeeding for such a long time, thumbs up for you. I stopped much earlier because i didn't feel comfortable of using pumps at work and business travelling didn't help much as well. I remember how painful it was to break that special connection to the child, to kind of realise that he does not need you in that way any more. That special bond that even the greatest father on earth can never offer. Its also beautiful that you are open about those feelings.
Keep on the good work. I hope you find energy and time to film new blog's.
Natas
I absolutely love reading your blogs. Can you please share if you followed anything specific for breastfeeding? I've been wanting to go exclusive breastfeeding for my 4w old but sometimes its not enough for him and then I end up doing top up with formula. Did you use to top-up or express milk?
