Mommy Monday: What Santa Brought!

Growing up we had a rule that we were only allowed to ask for three things from Santa Claus (and one of them had to be "a surprise"!). Jonathan and I kind of stuck to the same idea when it came to Emilia & Eduardo. Each of them got three Santa presents, as we felt this way they appreciate their toys more and get to enjoy & play with them properly! Added to that is the fact that they always get so many presents from family members & friends so we didn't want them to get overwhelmed by too much at one time. These are the toys that Santa brought them this year.

We'll start with Emilia's!

Frozen Elsa & Anna Toddler Dolls
These were the two toys she asked for as she just recently has become obsessed with Frozen and had been talking about Elsa & Anna dolls for the past month. Her face when she opened them up on Christmas morning was absolutely priceless! Even I am sort of in love with these...Elsa in particular has that "Barbie" smell that I remember from when I was a child! They are so pretty!! They both come with tiaras (though Anna's is missing in these shots) and shoes as well as a hair brush each and plastic Olaf.

Doc McStuffins Costume
Lately Emilia has been really into Doc McStuffins and we knew a friend of ours was getting her the Doc's kit so she needed the coat to go with the part! The underneath part of the costume is actually just velcro'd on and it includes matching pants too!

onto Eduardo's presents...

Okay so Eduardo isn't exactly old enough to ask for particular presents yet, but we were pretty sure he'd like something along these lines! So he got a big box of Duplo which is safe Lego for his age group. What's cool about this is that he & Emilia can play with it together so it's fun for both of them!

You can't see from the pictures above as I've since got rid of the box & lumped all of these legos along with the other ones but Eduardo also got this set as Jonathan decided he needed some cars in his life...ha ha ha! Poor thing loves car sounds, noises and toys but doesn't get much of them as Emilia's toys are mostly quite girly. I think we managed to salvage one (stolen) Thomas the Tank Engine toy which he had been clinging to for dear life so we definitely needed to get him something with wheels to call his own!

Last but not least Eduardo got this night light which Emilia was given by my mum two Christmases ago! She has the ballerina one, while Eduardo has the jungle theme. These are so beautiful and a huge hit with the children as they love watching the pictures spin around the walls of their room! I'm so happy with this present as I always knew I wanted one for each of my kids and I think they're really special!

Those were the things Emilia & Eduardo got from Santa Claus this year! I hope you enjoyed this post & hopefully it even gave you some ideas too! ;)

  3. Reading this puts me on edge because I worry so much about people saying horrible stuff about something so lovely as some gifts for your beautiful children! I certainly am not here to bring hate, I just wanted to say that I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and to wish you a fantastic new year! Each and every day through your vlogs and blogs you bring your "fans" so much happiness. Thankyou SO much for doing that despite the occasional rude words.

  9. I think that's a great idea only giving a few gifts. My little girl who is 18 months old was definitely overwhelmed by her toys and the whole day. Plus I can't remember all the presents I got when I was younger, but I probably would if I didn't get as many.

  16. I have already watched the vlog, and I thought the presents both you and Jonathan got Emilia and Ardo were perfect - especially the Elsa and Anna toddler dolls! Emilia's face was absolutely priceless! She's such a beauty.

And can I just say that both you and Jonathan raised such beautiful children. I know viewers such as myself only see less than 10% of your day through the vlogs and your even less on your blog, but from what I can see you are both amazing parents and I'm not going to lie... I aspire to be like you to when I have my own.

    I'm a big fan! x

  17. I don't have children yet, but when I do I will go for the ''Something they want, something they need, something to wear, something to read.'' I got my 26 year old sister Lego for Christmas, lol!

  18. Love the idea of giving three gifts at Christmas. I feel like it can be so easy for children to be overwhelmed when they are presented with so many new things (even I felt a bit overwhelmed, was quite spoiled this Christmas) especially when you bought things so they would actually play with them. Looks great!

  19. I love the idea with the 3 presents. But what do you do with the rest of them from the family and frends? I would love to adopt this rule in to our tradition, but I think grandparents would like their presents to be uder the tree as well... so there would be way more presents than three...

  21. I love the gifts and the idea of only a few presents. Does Santa bring all the presents or do you hive some as well. We did a big Santa gift(which is always unwrapped) and then we got them other presents. It just seems like they get so many and don't end up enjoying what they have!

  22. I love the rule of three! What a great idea to make Santa presents special.

  24. That night light is so cute and I wonder if Jonathan bought the Lego for the kids or for himself! Anyway I'm sure the kids were thrilled with their presents, Christmas is always so magical when you're young.

  25. Love the idea of only giving them 3 christmas presents! I think kids these days just don't appreciate the single gifts anymore and they are more interested in quantity than quality!

The gifts you and Jonathan chose are great, Anna!

  27. very nice presents. we made it the same way with our twin boys. From Vtech Tut tutBaby Flitzer Police Station, a Starter Set of Streets and a extensions Set of streets. so this were 3 presents. From uncle and aunt they got 2 big cars. from grandparents money. and this is really enough because on January 4th is their 2nd Birthday and they will get a lot of presents. I also saw the videos how cute was Emilias face when she opened the present with the Elsa Doll.

  33. I love this idea of 3 presents as I have family members that are a few years older than Emilia and don't appreciate their presents as much as they should.
This is a tradition I would love to add into my family for when I have children.
Maybe you could add a few more presents as they get older as they learn to appreciate the idea of Christmas.
Hope you had a Merry Christmas!

  40. Hi Anna,

Love your blogs and watch the vlogs everyday! I first found you guys a year ago by searching my daughters name (Emilia Esmé) to see what came up and have been hooked ever since! The kids are absolutely adorable and I can only hope that as a young single mum I can do half as good a job as you guys bringing up my daughter. Emilia is the sweetest little girl with such polite manner and I'm sure Eduardo will be the same!

I love that you don't go overboard with the Santa presents, I plan to only give one from Santa each year and the rest from mummy, family and friends.

I am also in love with Emilia's Minnie jumper and would love to get one for my little girl, could you please tell me where it's from?

Thanks so much and carry on doing the amazing job you are! 😘

  41. The three present idea is really good, it allows Emilia and Eduardo to really appreciate the toys - it's not quantity it's quality! Loved watching you open these in your vlog

  46. Such a great idea to let them choose three things from Santa, I am very guilty of over buying for my little one, I'll be keeping this I'm mind for next Christmas for sure, it's not so bad as he is still young right now, only 19 months so I would love to have a rule like that for when he starts to understand Christmas.
