This post is a little late because filming for today's StyleDiet video (watch it here!) took a lot longer than expected...but I'm really hoping you guys will enjoy it! I got so many lovely compliments on my maxi dresses on the vlog yesterday that Jofus actually suggested I make a styling video on them. What a clever little thing he is sometimes, ha ha ha :) Only joking, he's pretty smart most of the time!!
So I mentioned in yesterday's blog post that maxi dresses were my new best friend when it came to styling the bump and that is so true for any pregnant woman! In fact I'm actually so grateful that I'm pregnant during the summer and not the winter because it's so much easier to dress the bump this way. Layers tend to just look bulky and I hate it...it's too much fuss and maxis are so relaxed, floaty & feminine!
Here I'm showing you how I styled my three favourite maxi-dresses (well, these are my only three right now but I do plan to buy more ;) and if you are also pregnant hopefully this will encourage you to rock your bump this summer!!
Maxi dress/Velvet, Gladiators/New Look, Bracelets/Gift, Earrings/Bijoux Brigitte, Belt/ASOS
This look is perfect for day-time, the beach or any more casual affair. The dress is in a jersey material and basically like a long tank top! I also love how it's got a racer back so it matches up with my maternity bra -- added bonus right there! I absolutely LOVE cinching my "new" waist right under the bust to form an empire line because it really emphasises the bump. I am totally against covering up or hiding it away...I'm one of those annoying pregnant girls who wants everyone to know "I'M PREGNANT!", lol!
Maxi dress/French Connection, Sandals/Zara, Bangle/Octopus, Earrings/Talullah Tu
This dress has such a Grecian feel to it -- I love it! This one is also in a jersey material but it's slightly dressier and could definitely be worn in the evening/night time. The only thing I did differently here to how I normally wear it is cinched the belt up under the bust again, perfect! I also happen to think that turquoise & black are one of the most amazing summer colour combinations!! Especially with a bit of a tan (or in my case, a fake one ;)
Maxi dress/French Connection, Shoes/LoveClothing, Earrings/Talullah Tu, Gehry Cuff/Jewelmint
This was my first wedding dress when I originally thought it might be a beach wedding! I actually think this makes a wonderful maternity dress...it's way more flattering now that I'm pregnant, isn't that strange?! I just feel like the ruffles & shape are made for a bump, ha ha ha! This is so beautiful and made from very soft silk, I think it would be perfect for a pregnant bride :) The only problem with this is that the maternity bra is not ideal for it...but we worked with what we had...oh and the shoes were not my first choice, but I couldn't seem to find my Dune flip flops and these matched the earrings so there you go!
Hope you guys liked the way I styled all three...let me know your favourite look! :)
Stay Stylish!
