Maybelline Dream Finish BB Cream in Light
I was super excited to receive some of the new products from Maybelline's Spring/Summer line to try out & review on my blog! Here are some swatches of the products and my first impressions so far (to be clear, I have not tried any of these yet -- but let me know if you want me to review/use anything in another post).
The first product I am most eager to try is their new Dream Fresh BB Cream. I have not yet succumbed to the hype of BB creams, though I am curious to see what all the fuss is about and I do feel that my skin works best with a lighter coverage tinted moisturiser/foundation and a heavier concealer. (I'm already a huge fan of the Maybelline 24hr SuperStay Concealer!) There are four shades: Light, Medium, Dark and Universal Glow. I got Light which I'm hoping isn't too fair for my skin-tone but I am quite pale at the moment so we'll see how it goes with a little bronzer :) The cream has an SPF30, is oil-free, non greasy and claims to blur imperfections as well as give a radiant glow to the skin. I really want to like this, so I am willing to give it a fair trial. I will let you know how it goes! This retails for €11.99/£7.99.
Maybelline Bronzing Powder in 03 Tiger
I also received the Maybelline Bronzing Powder in the shade Tiger. This has a matte finish, which would be great for contouring. I am happy to try this out as I was already in the market for a new bronzer -- I had my eye on NYC Sunny because I had heard wonderful things from my friend Sam Schuerman but I will give this a go before I purchase anything else! This shade looks perfect for my skin-tone as it's light/medium so hopefully it won't make my skin look muddy or overly orange/bronzed.
Maybelline Color Tattoo 24hr Cream-Gel Eyeshadows
Next up we have the Color Tattoo 24hr Cream-Gel Eyeshadows. These promise to be lightweight, with a high performance wax system made with volatile fluids to create a smooth base. I would expect these to be pigmented and long-lasting, so we'll see how they fare.
Swatches from L-R: Eternal Gold, Eternal Silver, Endless Purple, Immortal Charcoal.
I will say that when swatched, the colours Eternal Gold, Eternal Silver and Charcoal came up very pigmented however Endless Purple took a little more work to show up and I didn't love how it seemed to settle into all the lines in my skin. Perhaps it's the matte formula, but the shimmery ones seem to work better. My favourite so far is Eternal Gold and when I tried to wash these off my hands after, these would not budge!! So they are definitely long-lasting. These retail for €7.99/£4.99.
Maybelline SuperStay 10h Tint Gloss
I also got to try out four of the new 10hr Tint Glosses, which are unique high shine, super pigmented lip-glosses with a new sponge applicator. These swatches took a lot of effort to wash off my hand also, though I haven't tried them on my lips yet. I think these would be a great idea for people that don't want to go the whole nine yards with the bright lipstick trend, but still want to add some long-lasting colour to their look.
Swatches from L-R: Lasting Pink, Forever Coral, Endless Ruby, Timeless Plum
You can see just how pigmented & glossy these are from the swatches above. I think Lasting Pink is my favourite, though I do love coral shades in the summer! These retail for €11.49/£6.99.
Maybelline Illegal Length Mascara
Being honest, I have not had the greatest experience with Maybelline mascaras (though I know that a lot of people have) so I remain sceptical about this but I will give it a try! This is their new Illegal Length mascara with a high-performance formula and a 4mm fibre fix brush. This retails for €13.59/£8.99 and is available in black or waterproof black.
Maybelline ColorSensational Popsticks from L-R: Citrus Slice, Pink Sugar, Crystal Pink, Pink Lollipop, Cherry Pop
I am super excited about these! I think this is a really clever more wearable spin on the neon trend, plus who doesn't like make-up that looks like candy?! These new Color Sensational "Popsticks" are sheer, translucent and give a dewy shine to the lips with just a hint of colour.
Swatches from L-R: Citrus Slice, Pink Lollipop, Crystal Pink, Pink Sugar, Cherry Pop
However, when swatched these don't show up at all! Ha ha ha -- I guess they're super sheer, but this will most likely work for me as I'm not much of a bright lip person. My favourite for now is Pink Sugar! These retail for €10.49/£7.19.
Maybelline EyeStudio Drama Gel Eyeliner in Brown
I am already a huge fan of the Maybelline EyeStudio Drama Gel Liner, having used it in black on my wedding day! I can definitely attest to the fact that it does indeed last a very long time (maybe not 24 hours but I did sleep in my make-up that night and woke up with my face still looking "flawless", impressive!). So I was happy to receive this in brown, for a lighter daytime look. I love the way this eyeliner applies, but you must be careful to wash the brush after each use otherwise it gets very messy and hard with product!
Maybelline Porcelain Collection from L-R: Ceramic Blue, Porcelain Pink, Lilac Charm, Denim Blue
Lastly are the new shades from the Porcelain Collection in Maybelline's Forever Strong Pro nail polish range. I have a couple of Maybelline polishes that I really love and are very long-lasting so I'm excited to try these out! I also have been loving pastels on my nails this spring, and these have a cute "Easter-ish" feel to them! I did not swatch these as I didn't have time to re-paint my nails but I expect I will be using them in the next couple of weeks so check out my Instagram for pictures! These retail for €5.99/£4.09.
Before I go, I will leave you guys with this adorable picture of Sina's puppies...look at that sweet face! I could just stare at these five little angels all day long :) I love them!
Let me know what you think of the new Maybelline Spring/Summer range and if there's anything you want me to try out first! I hope you all have a wonderful Easter weekend :)
