Sometimes it's really difficult to figure out what to wear on Valentine's Day! Especially if you live in a country where it most likely will be freezing cold and pouring rain! I wish I could wear a cute pink/red party dress out to dinner with my fiancé, but if I did I would probably end up looking like a corpse with icicles hanging from my nose. So let's make this summery polka dot dress work for winter, shall we?!
My parents bought me this dress at a local boutique almost 4 years ago. I absolutely love the 50's style of a full A-line skirt, cinched waist and flattering v-neck! It's one of my favourite dresses I own. It comes to just below the knee and has a high back. I wear this in the summer time with bare legs, off-white heels and a cream blazer. In winter time all I do is switch up the colours from light to dark and instead pair it with black opaque tights, black pumps (ASOS) and a black tailored blazer (also ASOS!) This ensures that I don't freeze to death and still look cute! This would work well for a dinner date, or going out in the evening.
Yeah, these two pictures are almost identical...sorry! Hahaha, I was trying to get two of each and it wasn't till I was editing that I realised my pose was exactly the same in all the photos of this outfit! Also can we just take the time to note what a very bright studio light and an HD camera will do to your sheer clothing...ahem. You think that's bad? The video is even worse! I swear it's not that see-through in real life...
Anyway, here's a more casual look for daytime, or if you're in school/college (minus the see-throughness, obviously!) or even if you're just a casual jeans and tank top kind of girl who doesn't want to get dressed up for a date! The black tank top is from InWear and the booties are from ASOS. I broke up the black with a pair of grey skinny jeans from Zara and added a pop of festive colour with a red cardigan from Oasis. And just to show that even a casual outfit can be Valentinesy, I added this beautiful heart necklace from an amazing costume jewellery brand, Talullah Tu!
This outfit reminds me of a ballerina! I adore the red skirt, it has black bow detailing on the pockets and is a high-waisted flattering A-line style. I paired it up with black tights and pumps from ASOS. The skirt is also from ASOS but I bought it 2 years ago. The top is a basic round-neck one from Vila, which looks a lot like a leotard with this skirt and tights! And where would we be without a heart? Dead, is the answer to that question...hahaha! But just for a little touch of sparkle, I added a different heart necklace this time, from La Moxie!
So there you have it, three different looks for Valentine's Day! Let me know your favourite and I hope you all have a wonderful day, whether it's spent with your partner, family or friends <3
Stay Stylish!

I love the first and third outfits! :) So feminine and chic...I love the 50's style too, women so much more feminine and delicate than now :) Thanks for the great ideas!
ReplyDeleteThe last one is my favourite! I could see myself wearing that skirt..too bad I have a final the day after! A date with my books is better than no date at all, hehe!
ReplyDeleteAnna, great tips as always! I never really thought about it, but you're right, Valentine's day is a difficult day to dress for. Every girl wants to feel sexy and flirty without freezing her butt off!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite: The third outfit! It's feminine, flattering and flirty!
the last one! <3 you helped me to decide what to wear! My biggest problem is, that I'll be skiing in the mountains on Valentine's Day and that means that I have to take something which doesn't need ironing and so on. Maybe one day you will do a video/post on how to look when you're travelling and can't take half of your wardrobe? I mean: the most universal clothes.
ReplyDeletehappy Valentine s day honey!
ReplyDeleteThe 1st and 3rd pics would be great for a date. I like the third outfit the best, it's the most playful with colors and the day thanks to the heart necklace. The second would be good if you're going out with friends or running around town.
ReplyDeletecute post!!
ReplyDeletelove your style!!!!!!!!
