A lot of people ask me what my decorating style is and unfortunately, being that we move around a lot and live in rented accommodation, I hardly ever get to express it in my own home. I look forward to when we move into our own house and I can start decorating it the way I want! One thing I cannot stand about rented accommodation is the standard black leather sofas...eww! I don't like leather furniture much anyway but especially not the cheap kind!
Overall my style is quite classic and simple, much like the way I dress. I absolutely LOVE blue and white together and I adore aged Persian rugs, Turkish tiles and clean lines. I'm not into florals as I favour ethnic prints and I have completely gone off the Damask print...I feel it's so overdone and in some cases, can look tacky. I also love lots of light, high ceilings, wood floors and big windows...sigh...I want it all! Above are some inspirational pictures that best illustrate my decorating style. So tell me, what is yours? How do you decorate your house/apartment or how do you plan to decorate your dream home?
Stay Stylish!

Hey Anna, great inspiration here :) I love Turkish tiles too, they are so intricate and I love the blue, most of them are made in iznik bursa... Which is where my parents are from (Bursa) you should see inside the mosques, Such beatiful pieces. X
ReplyDelete@Muhsine Ohh I thought you'd like this post! ;) Yes, they are so stunning aren't they, when we were in Turkey my mom went crazy buying random tiles to just hang on the walls of her house!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a great post!
ReplyDeleteI really love modern and chic decor. At the moment I haven't figured how I would decorate my dream home but I know there would be lots of laminate flooring, I don't know why I love that so much but I do! Also, I have really been wanting to re-decorate my bedroom, at the moment it's got white walls and different colours of wood furniture, I'd really love to paint the walls a light pink and paint my furniture cream and add lots of girlie, vintage items! I think that would be my ideal bedroom.

That's totally my style too. I adore the pictures you posted. I love blues. My living room is going to be different shades of greys & blues. I was thinking of painting an accent wall (where the TV is) a greyish blue just give the room some kick. I can't buy any of the rugs I want until my cats pass on. They always scratch or puke on them. Rugs are so expensive that it's not worth spending $$$ only to have it ruined. So excited you posted this. I love it! XOXO
ReplyDeleteI would decorate my dream home old antique style but with a modern touch. I love antique dressers, desks, lamps, china, etc. I love history, so that is probably why I like the old style look.
ReplyDeleteHowever, if I had another choice I would go beachy. I love the beach and the ocean.
Your style is beautiful as well!! :)
I once saw a magazine that showcased someone's house, I think it was an actor on House M.D, who had a grey living room. I thought it looked lovely, and had never seen anything like it before. It wasn't just plain old white, but it looked so peaceful and inviting. I'd love to decorate my family room in greys. One thing I absolutely must have: a four poster bed. I've always loved them, ever since I was a child, and have always wanted one. I even want the curtains that you can draw to block out the cold/light! Also, my favorite color is green, so there will be a strong green motif throughout my apartment/house :) Great post!

Hi Anna, thanks for posting your decor. style. I'm in a rental for the next couple years with really horrible 70's dark brown carpet & appliances. I love the crisp look of blue & white. Someday, I'll have a brighter place and I hope to incorporate those colors! Laura
ReplyDeleteLove the Blue and white, I love how crisp it is, My style is actually a lot of Blue and white...with accents of yellow in some rooms and accents of sea green in others, More the Shabby chic -beach cottage look. Lot's of painted furniture....
