Yes! I really did it...I got the chop! I told you I felt like a change, ha ha ha ;)
It really is short! What do you guys think? My hubby loves it as this pretty much the same style I had when we first got together. The only difference is I went a lot darker this time! I think the poor stylists at the salon thought I was some kind of crazy woman reeling from postpartum hormones when I arrived announcing that I wanted "all of it chopped off...and darker." Ha ha ha! They asked me lots of questions like "have you ever had short hair before?", "are you absolutely sure?" and right before she cut it my hairdresser asked "are you ready??" I was ready though, I've never been one of those people who's emotionally attached to their hair even though you would probably think I would be after it had gotten that long! But my hair grows so fast and has been lots of different colours so I think it's fun to change it up once in a while! :)
As you can see from the pictures, my colourist persuaded me to try balayage/ombre before totally going over to the dark side...and I have to admit I think he was right. Once again he was afraid I would regret it so he encouraged me to try this warm brown at the roots with some golden blonde pieces throughout the ends. I love it! It's really rich and warm without being too drastic a change from the blonde. And what lovely, caring hair stylists they all were to think of my emotional state afterwards...ha ha ha!
The cut is layered very choppy which means my natural wave came out - yesterday I wore it straight and sleek (after washing it) and today this is how it looked in the morning! I just sprayed a little dry shampoo & we were done! How easy and low-maintenance is that for a new mama?! Exactly what I was looking for :)
Let me know what you guys think and don't be too sad about saying goodbye to the longer locks...hair grows back after all! But I think I might keep it this way for a while, I really like it!
Stay Stylish!
*comments are back on for now but negative nancies will be blocked...so if you're thinking of being a meanie-bum...don't bother!*
This haircut suits you sooooo good! And I think it's handy to! Beautiful Colours, and I really like the blond/ombre accents!
ReplyDeletelove it ...so pretty..!! :)
ReplyDeleteI similarly cut of my really long hair to donate it to a charity that makes wigs for sick children, its so low maintaince! I didn't love it at first but now I love it! Its so easy and quick to dry..and I can wear it natural as with long hair I felt it needed more styling as my hair has a slight wave! Your hair looks AMAZING!! Your such a great mother and overalls great person! Also read your article in the independent..forget the haters at the end of the day there the ones who are spending their time watching people who they claim to have! Aisling x
ReplyDeleteLove it , u look amazing and i love the color <3 greeting from jordan :))
ReplyDeleteOmg anna thank u soo much for doing this :) i got the, very same haircut, that is sooo cool!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love your new hair, Anna!!!<3
ReplyDeleteI think it looks great on u!!! If I could find a stylist who could actually make my hair look like the pictures I show them I would b willing to try something different with my look.
ReplyDeleteI just had to comment- that looks great!!! I think you look younger and refreshed with this cut. And this cut is more stylish and has a bit more edge to it than your long locks. Though your long hair was beautiful, I think it was definitely time for you to change it up. I have kept my hair at about this same length (right above the shoulders) for a few years now as I think it is more stylish, more flattering, and easier to manage than when it was longer (though I have been getting an itch to grow it again). I have had super short (pixie cut) in the past more than once- but now that I'm older, super short isn't the best look for me. I do think that way too many women hold onto keeping their long, shapeless hair even when it's not flattering to them... one good cut is all it takes for them to realize a good, flattering haircut looks better any day! Looks awesome- I look forward to perhaps a post on different ways of styling this do... I think you'll find that you have a lot more styling option at this length. :)
ReplyDeleteAnna I love your new hairdo!!! I am 3 months postpartum myself and have been thinking of going shorter although my hair is not as long and beautiful as yours! Do they have locks of love in Ireland? If so you should donate your beautiful locks to the organization the next time. It would give a cancer patient hope. Anyways you look stunning as always. Don't listen to the negative nancies out there. Someone will always try to bring you down. <3 from NYC
ReplyDeleteGorgeous!! X
ReplyDeleteI'm a new mom (my baby girl Willow is four months today) and I'm doing the chop this week! Between her pulling at it and dealing with postpartum shedding, I'm ready for a change. Your new cut looks just lovely and it's very flattering! :).
